CPC - OTTAWA
The Canadian Polish Congress (CPC) - Ottawa Branch is one of sixteen branches of the Canadian Polish Congress
and is the main voice of the Polish community in the Ottawa region. The mandate, objectives and the organizational
structure of CPC can be viewed on its website www.kpk.org.
CPC - Ottawa Branch is an organization uniting Polish community
groups, including branches of Canada-wide Polish associations, in
Ottawa and the region. Member organizations are:
- Polish Combatants' Association, Branch no. 8 (PCA),
- Association of Polish Engineers(APE),
- Polish-Canadian Women's Federation, Branch no. 8 (P-CWF),
- Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences, Ottawa Branch (PINK),

CPC - Ottawa Branch organizes and initiates activities that promote Polish culture and tradition through
lectures, discussions, concerts, exhibitions, films and public presentations commemorating important
historical dates and events. The Branch coordinates events and initiatives of member and non-member organizations,
supports Polish youth groups, community schools and media outlets.
CPC - Ottawa Branch defends the community's interests, assists
with immigrant settlement in the region, deepens attachment to the
Polish nation, creates strong links to Canadian society, defends
Poland's good name and informs Canadians of Polish contributions
to Canadian and world culture as well as the Polish armed forces
contribution to both World Wars.
Among the most important initiatives undertaken by the Ottawa Branch in the past twenty-five
years were the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Polish Constitution of May 3rd which took
place on Parliament Hill with the participation of politicians and academics, notably British historian Norman Davies;
effective sponsorships and settlement help provided to Polish refugees in the 1980's; an effective political
campaign to ensure Poland's membership in NATO, and assistance to Polish flood victims in 1997.
